Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Arrives, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo and Illumination shared the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. It was showcased in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that focused exclusively on the upcoming animated film.
The sequel to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will send Mario to the distant reaches of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Cosmic Adventure Based on Beloved Titles
Similar to the games from the Wii period that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. Throughout his extensive trek, he will encounter once more some familiar faces, for instance the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Returns and Expands
The movie will welcome back of the initial voice actors, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
The new Mario movie is scheduled to arrive near the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo has a trio of new releases already confirmed for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
